AECP- CAS Boutique cards lesson #2: Stamped backgrounds

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

I learned so much in this class about measuring and how to create a background out of any stamp. I wanted to challenge myself to make a background using a sentiment stamp, so I chose the 'Thank you' stamp from the Leaf Canopy set. I measured a piece of 110 lb cardstock to be an A2 card size. I then measured in 1/2 increments down the card. I placed the sentiment and the paper in my Misti and kept repositioning it to get the distancing that I wanted.

I knew I wanted to use a black card base so I cut that out of 110 lb. cardstock. I also knew I wanted to add a pink accent so I chose to stamp the sentiment again in Altenew Razzleberry ink on white cardstock and then adhere that to a black base and then I adhered that entire piece in the lower right corner with Scotch foam tape to make it pop off of the card. I trimmed the stamped background and found a matching piece of pink cardstock and cut that ever so slightly bigger than the background just so you can see a peek of pink in the background there. I adhered it all to the card base and voila! I really like the way this one turned out and once you get the hand of measuring it, I think this would be pretty easy to duplicate to make a set of them. Thanks so much to Jennifer Rzasa for all of the lessons learned in this class!

One of the things that these first two classes has taught me is about how to keep it simple. I like the crisp clean look of the black stamped words and then just the hint of color with the pink sentiment and the pink cardstock.
