AECP CAS Boutique Cards Lesson #3- Metallic details

I loved this class! Jennifer Rzasa did a great job with walking through how to use foil on a card. It made me want to buy a laminator LOL; definitely on my wish list now! Since I didn't have the supplies to try foiling, I chose to use embossing. I've never been super comfortable with my embossing so I decided to push myself a little and do a larger stamped image on this card. I also have a new black watercolor paper pad that was calling my name for this lessons homework.

I cut an A2 size panel from my black watercolor paper pad. I then wiped the panel with my anti-static tool and used the smaller stamp in the Just Because set and placed it in my Misti and stamped in the upper left and lower right hand corners of the panel with VersaMark embossing ink. I added some Brutus Munro gilded embossing powder and voila! I couldn't believe how well the images embossed.

I decided to take the metallic challenge a step further and use 2 dot cards from Iuile that my daughter had bought for me. I used the Lollipop dot card and the Early Christmas dot card. I love how this turned out. The colors are so vibrant on the black watercolor cardstock. I decided to go a bit outside of the embossed areas on the edges (outside of the leaves) to break up the starkness of the remaining black background.

Once I was done with this I thought it needed a little something more so I took an embossing pen and drew a border. I added the gilded embossing powder to this to create the gold border. The sentiment , also from the Altenew Just Because set, is stamped on 110 lb. cardstock in Versa Fine black onyx ink. I cut a strip slightly larger than the sentiment and embossed this entirely in gold as well. The sentiment was then adhered to the panel with Scotch foam tape. The panel was finally then adhered to top opening A2 cardstock base (made from 110 lb. cardstock).

Iuile handmade dot cards in Lollipop and Early Christmas (from Etsy)
