AECP Level 2 In the Mood for Color

Hey fellow card makers! Today I am sharing with you the project that I made for the AECP level 2 class, In the Mood for Color. This class, taught by Stephanie Klauck, was really great! I loved learning about all of the different colors. I chose to use orange, which is Health, Happiness, and Courage. I chose this for 2 reasons...first, after these past 15 months I think we all wish for health, and happiness, having the courage to do what we do everyday during a pandemic. Secondly, I almost never use orange, so this was a bit of a challenge for me. I had a new set of Altenew die inks that were just screaming to be used for this project. It is the warm and cozy mini dye ink set, and they are all so pretty!

For this card, I started by cutting a white A2 panel from 110 lb. cardstock from Recollections. I then stamped the Fairy Tales Floral stamp with Memento ink in black. I just have to say that Altenew makes this set a snap to use...everything is coordinated and numbered so there is no question about what goes with what. I stamped the inner lines of the flowers with the Firebrick crisp dye ink from the set mentioned above, and the inner lines on the leaves with Altenew crisp dye ink in Forest Glades. Once everything was all stamped, I took the Fairy Tales Floral stencils and went to work shading. I used Orange Cream, Sunkissed, and a touch of Autumn Blaze for the Flowers. For the leaves, I used the Altenew crisp dye ink mini cube in Frayed Leaf.

Once this was all done, I was a little stuck. I couldn't think of what I wanted to do with it next. I decided to ink the background with Altenew crisp dye ink in Seabreeze. (Shout out to Kim from Kim Kreates!). After this, I thought gold would go great with the orange. So I got out my free pan of gold paint that Iuile WaterColors sent me with a purchase and used that. I added some water and went to work adding some spatters to the background.

Once this wall finished, I stamped the sentiment which is from the Altenew Leaf Canopy stamp set with Memento ink in black. I then adhered the card panel to a 110 lb. A2 card base made from Recollections paper.

I think this might be one of my most favorite cards from my AECP journey so far!
