Featured Creator- Make the Card Challenge: Summer Fun

I am so excited to have been chosen as this weeks Featured Creator over at the Make the Cards Challenge blog!

This week is a Summer Fun Color Challenge which I absolutely love because I LIVE for the summer! I wait all year for it to get here, and am so sad when it is gone!

For my card today, I chose to use the Happy Summer mini set from Lawn Fawn.

I began with an A2 sized panel of white 110 lb. cardstock from Recollections. I stamped the watermelon image in Memento Tuxedo black ink several times. I took the matching Happy Summer die set from Lawn Fawn, and made a few masks of the watermelon image from Gina K Masking sheets, and placed them on the panel and continued stamping until the panel was full of watermelons.

Next, I went to work coloring all of those cute little watermelons. For this card, I used solely my Ohuhu alcohol ink markers in colors that matched the theme of the week. See below for complete list of colors used.

I took a piece of white 110 lb. cardstock and inked a piece of it with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink. After this, I took an old Alphabet die set that I bought so long ago I don't remember where I got it LOL. I centered the dies over the inked area and then placed some washi tape over them to hold them in place while I die cut it. After this, I cut 2 additional sets of the word from 110 lb. white cardstock. I then spaced the letters on the watermelon panel and placed a piece of washi tape over them so that they would stay in place when I die cut them. I ran this through my Cuttlebug and then removed the letters, being careful not to loose the center of the R. I glued the blue letters, and 2 layers of white letters together so that the word would be 3 layers thick. After this, I carefully glued them back into the die cut watermelon panel. I took the center of the R and repeated the process and adhered it to the center of the R. Once this was set in place, I took some Glossy Accents and added a layer of this to the word so that it would have even more dimension.

I ran my anti-static tool over the top left of the panel and stamped the word "hello" in Versamark embossing ink and embossed it with Brutus Monroe embossing powder in Alabaster. I made a card base from 110 lb. white cardstock from Recollections. To bring in the yellow from the challenge theme, I inked the outside edges of the panel in Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink. When this was dry, I adhered the panel to the card base.

I had a ton of fun being the Featured Creator for this challenge! It could not have been a more perfect theme! Thank you so very much for this opportunity. Come play along with us and submit a card for this fun challenge!
